Day 2 Post Op AKA Allergic Reaction..what?!

My last 24 hour drain total was down to like 155 which is good, before that I think it was like 280 so it's halved.  The last 12 hours it was only 35.  I can't wait to have this drain out.  It looks like a penis lol.  I was having a hard time with it because it was sitting in my underwear (overtime the garment) and I would pull them down to pee and it would fall to the floor.  Well the cord/drain line wasn't that long, so yeah, OUCH.  I'm excited to get it removed and feel more normal.

I'm very happy to say that I do not feel worse today than yesterday.  I was so freaking scared of that.  I felt worse the NIGHT after (the evening I felt fine) and then it's progressively gotten better.

Tj kind of dropped me last night helping me get into bed (I can do it on my own but if he's here the help is nice) and..I balled.  I had a small breakdown lol which involved alligator tears for about 3-5 minutes.

I slept 9-2ish.  Got up when he did for work and took another percocet (my 4th total) laid back down..and started ITCHING TO DEATH!!  I called the 24 hour CVS and they said an allergic reaction that's been building up.  Percocet is the only narcotic I can take that doesn't make me puke my guts out and I can function on it.  So now..I"m not sure if I should take it anymore.  Truth be told, it doesn't really touch the pain, I just wanted to sleep last night so that's why I took it.

I'm still a little itchy and I plan on calling the dr in a little while to see what they say.

Sitting at the computer chair is kinda OK, and we have a $16.88 chair from walmart lol.  Our desk has a ledge underneath I can put my feet on and I put a pillow behind me.

Hmmm what else, oh Tj didn't get home until like 7pm yesterday.  I still don't have much of an appetite but I don't feel constantly nauseous either.  I took a shower last night...that was..fun lol.  I redressed my 'wounds' which they said I didn't need to do but I don't really want them rubbing this garment.

My garment is by veronique, similar (if not the same) as this one.

I have read that some dr's don't use a zipper garment because it can cause imperfections in the skin as it's healing and that after X amount of hours/days you switch to just a binder, like this....

but I guess because I had the lipo done on my sides, etc I need the full piece.  I'm not really sure, may do some more research.

So, this was yesterday morning, I had to take my minder off early to wash it (it has a hole to pee through..yeahh need I say more?)  However, I have developed a really good too to aid in peeing through a hole...you take your child's take n toss cup and put it down there..lol so all the pee goes in the cup and not on the edge of the garment.

Classy, I know.

The drain tube is now pinned to my garment so that I don't have to worry about it.  I wear my garment and then underwear over it.

If anyone has any questions or wants to see more, etc.  Im more than happy to answer/show.  I know I was most worried about the drain but it's not bad at all.  I barely even notice it, even with pants on yesterday when I went to the dr, etc.

It's hard to stand straight up so I don't know when I"ll get any good pictures but I'm sitting pretty straight right now so I might try later.

Thanks for all of the well wishes & support!

  1. Hi, I'm glad youre doing well with your healing!
I broke my arm in 2004 and I took Percocet too...and had the same itchy reaction...when I had Jacob in 2010, I told the doctors I had a percocet/morphine allergy and they told me it was more a body's way of telling you it "doesnt like" the drug, because with a true allergy, you'd be sorta dead...or at least REALLY sick to the point where you'd have to be in the hospital. I don't know if that's what's happening with you (better safe than sorry!), but I kept taking Percocet until my cast came off and I am still alive ;)

  2. Opioids like percocet make most people itch - not necessarily an "allergic" reaction, just a side effect. I was in the hospital on a dilauded drip for 3 days and the only thing that helped with the itch was benadryl - but then I was zonked right out from the benadryl. Can you try extra strength ibuprofen or something similar?
